Denver Zoo -Lorakeets and Parakeets

If you’ve ever wanted to shoot birds without spending money on big glass, the Denver Zoo has solution for you.  They have an exhibit, where you can feed some Lorakeets and Parakeets some nectar and where you can get up close and personal with them.

One thing to watch for is that the birds can be opportunistic, and if you aren’t holding your cup of nectar tightly, they may just grab the entire cup and finish it off.
But you can get away with using a moderate telephoto since you can get so close to birds.
And the zoo has a number of docents in the exhibit with you, who will give useful advice.

In this picture, I was using a longer zoom telephoto which I had rented.  If you don’t need a long telephoto, renting is a good option.
